Post subject:  Thurlby Lake lunchtime 17/01/13

Nearly all frozen but some patches of open water much crowded out with wildfowl. Amongst the Mallard, Teal, Wigeon and Pochard were at least 20 Goldeneye, 4 Shelduck and a pair of of Red-crested Pochard -probably the pair normally seen on Norton Disney pit.

The shelduck had disappeared when I visit about three
At least 74 great black backed gulls
herring gull 150
black headed gull 700
greylag c200
wood pigeon in field just before arriving at Thurlby
shoveler 40
great crested grebe 24
little grebe 3
40 teal
wigeon 180
tufted duck 100
coot 300
magpie 4
blackbird 30
