Post subject:  Chaffinch...spring song!

Hi,
Heard a Chaffinch today attempting to sing it's classic spring song. Another week or so and it should get there, very early though.
Also heard a Great Tit singing it's "teacher teacher" song. Again a bit earlier.
Do they know somefink we don't ?

Talking of early stuff, BirdGuides is reporting that a Common Tern has been seen from Hayle in Cornwall!

:) In my experience chaffinches are usually coming into song around the 1st of February, and great tits almost always by the turn of the year. They (grreat tits) have been making a dickens of a racket around here (Richmond Road, Cleethorpes) since before Christmas!
