2 Egyptian Geese on flooded wheat field. 34 Pochard (record count for mere?). 21 Tufted Duck. 1 male Goosander. 2 Cormorants. 1 Buzzard. 2 Skylarks. 14 Linnets. 4 Bullfinches. 1 Reed Bunting. 2 Yellowhammers. |

Hi Andy. I found my way to Botham mere today at last thanks. It's only taken me three attempts, 4 sets of directions. (thanks for that) and 15 years to get there. Met a lovely couple from Lincoln in the hide , who that said you had just left. Sorry I missed you. They saw a Bittern 10 minutes before I arrived. My friend and I sat for over 2 hours in the cold and didn't even see the Goosander never mind the Bittern that I made the trip for. Did see a Willow Tit on the feeders briefly which was nice. Thanks only to the chap who fills the feeders who told us about it. (Forgot to ask his name) |

2 pair of goosander on the Mere 22 pochard 10 common gulls coot 46 tufted duck 16 wood pigeon 300+ in the field between the Mere and the bypass and another 300+ close to the Swanpool estate mute swan 4 gadwall 42 willow tit 2 on the feeders mallard 10 jackdaws c700 over the Mere and fields the pair of egyptian geese were still in the whet field the bittern put in two very brief appearances and although I was in the hide when they were seen I was looking the wrong way - such is life fieldfare 1 |
