Post subject:  Birchwood Waxwings

A text at 08:15 from Paul Marshall alerted me to at least 27 waxwings by the Green Barrel pub on Birchwood. They quickly moved round the corner into Fir Tree Avenue where they lingered for ten minutes before disappearing across the roof tops eastwards. According to a chap on his way from the paper-shop they have been around a couple of days even though there seems to be little food to hold them. Thought I had seen my last waxwings for the winter so this was a pleasant surprise and a nice way to start the day
