Post subject:  Swanpool/Boultham mere 18/03.

A female Brambling in the bushes between the hide and first footbridge was my first on the patch since 2000.
Also at the mere:-
Pair of Shelduck.
1 male Goosander.
72 Gadwall.
1 Little Grebe.
1 very vocal Green Woodpecker.

c40 Lesser Redpolls by Catchwater copse.

Increased to two male goosander when I went over Andy this afternoon
The little grebe had disappeared and there was no sign of the brambling
The egyptian geese were still on the wet field and even they were looking for a dryer area - really wet and muddy
One kingfisher on the sluice
Fieldfare c32
Redwing 2
A skylark and yellowhammer
Chaffinch c32
Green & great spotted woodpecker in the wood
Willow tit 2 showing well
Jay 3
