Another cold, dull and damp morning on the patch:-
2 Mute Swans
53 Gadwall
2 Teal
7 Pochard
18 Tufted Duck
2 Goosanders
6 Little Grebes on the mere, lots of calling and chasing going on
7 Cormorants including ZD4 which was ringed in May 2011 as a chick at Rutland water and has been seen several times at the mere
1 Bittern flew into N reeds
1 Sparrowhawk displaying
1 Lesser Black-backed Gull flew SE
1 Song Thrush
5 Redwings
3 Mistle Thrushes
1 Goldcrest
2 Willow Tits
3 Lesser Redpolls
c15 Siskins in birches by borrow pit

Nothing new on the patch today, Thursday, but at least 2 Bitterns still at the mere, 1 flew from north to west reeds and then 1 flew from south to north reeds.
Also 2 Chiffchaffs, 1 singing in west bay and 1 in hedge by farm.

Afraid not, don't know who saw them, apparently they were flying east at 10:55.

I was in the hide at the mere at the time.
