Post subject:  Good day at Whisby

I turned up some surprises today on another bitterly cold day at Whisby
Merlin flew north out of Redlands Old Yard past the nest box on the concrete post and out over the trees toward Whisby Road
A green sandpiper came out of the swampy ground around the nest box before heading off towards the round pond and the grazing marsh - couldn't re-locate
A single grey partridge was observed in a field to the north of the nest box
Four lapwing in the area
A single female goosander was on Thorpe Lake at 16:00
A pair of oystercatchers were at the Silt Lagoons
The three bean goose were observed on Willow Lake from the hide. They drifted left and had disappeared by the time I moved down to the bench where i hoped to photograph them
Snipe 4 on Grebe Lake
Teal 6 on Grebe Lake
32 magpie with 22 in a field in the Willow Lake area
Shoveler 2 on Willow Lake
c50 wigeon at the Silt Lagoons - non anywhere else I went
Tufted Duck c40
Pochard 26
Goldeneye 4
Gadwall 22
Great crested grebe 8
Little Grebe 4
