Two pairs of Garganey on the scrape between 1000 and 1400 today. One pair flew to drop behind willows but one pair remained until at least 1445.
Plus at least six Swallows over the scrape.

Alerted by BirdGuides of a pair of Garganey at Marston I decided to go for them. Much to my surprise a second pair dropped in at 11;30 along with a Green Sandpiper. Another sandpiper arrived shortly after the first. All of these birds had disappeared when I left at 15:00 but may be just over the bank
Also seen were 3 Swallows but others I spoke to had seen larger numbers
Both house and sand martin were over the sewage works - up to about 40
Had a brief burst of song from a Cetti's Warbler
Kestrel 2
Buzzard 1
Shelduck 2
Snipe 1
Chiffchaff 2
Goldfinch 13
First butterfly of the year - Peacock

Passing along A1 so popped in for a quick look again for the Garganey.

Had 2 Yellow Wags. on the ploughed feild, just after leaving the car park.
Cetti's heard calling several times from hide and seen briefly later further along track.

Unfortunately no sign of Garganey though. :(
