Hi Phil, Is the bench back in the hide yet? the farmer said he would put it back in if the vandalism abated. Geoff |

No it isn't but I saw him today and he indicated he was thinking about putting it back soon. |

There has been a good selection of waders here in the last few days, 16/4- 1 Dunlin, 1 Snipe, 3 Redshank. 17/4- 2 Avocet, 2 LRP, 3 Snipe, 4 Redshank, 1 Greenshank. 18/4- 2 LRP, 6 Redshank, 1 Greenshank. You need to check both flashes, 2nd flash from the garden shed hide. There has been a good passage of Yellow Wagtails with a maximum of 21 birds on the 16th. I get the impression there are a lot more about this year, unless they are coming through in a rush. Geoff |

There were 2 elusive Garganey this afternoon and a few waders, 2 or 3 Snipe, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Greenshank and 2 Green Sandpiper. Also seen were 2 Little Egret and ca.6 Yellow Wagtail. I also tried Levee Doors but water levels were high so just a few Teal and Mallard. Geoff |

At last! I finally found the second flash at Manby. Also had 2 Garganey on the flash nearest the car park and 2 Greenshank, 2 Green Sands. & 3 Little Egret on second flash. Really like the hides. Except that to be able to view from them, you need to be either a midget in the first one, or a giant in the second. What's that all about then? |

Thanks for the excellent directions to the garden shed hide Geoff. It was worth the long walk, almost. Appreciate it. |

Martin Chapman the farmer who owns the land here rang me tonight to say he has reinstated the bench, logbook etc. to the hide. I hope more birders will now visit. Recently with the lack of birders, dog walkers and joggers have taken to walking around the inside perimeter of the flash causing disturbance to birds although there is no public footpath at that point. Also he asked if anyone could help him by taking some photos of the positions of any nesting Lapwings there as he needs evidence of breeding for a government scheme he hopes to apply for. Geoff |
