Baumber- 19th April I turned out the first cattle to grass in the rain late this morning to ease my weekend workload more than anything else! By 5pm. the sun had come out to vindicate my decision and already a party of 5 Y.Wagtails were feeding amongst their legs, my first sighting of the spring but how do they find the livestock so quickly? The first resident Swallow was in the farmyard on sunday afternoon and by tuesday the number had risen to 5. They are already pairing up and staking out nesting sites. They will also be pleased to see the cattle out. A Corn Bunting was singing this morning on the farm. Mike |

They also feed amongst the legs of sheep - as I saw at Frampton a few days ago! |

Just to highlight what an exceptional spring passage of yellow wagtails there is this year there were over 25 present at Tetney this morning but also last night I also had a minimumn of 130 roosting at Blacktoft Sands reserve! |
