A male subalp was found by John Shaughnessy in front of Tennyson's Sands North Hide at 1713 - it later moved to the hedge along the cycletrack - still showing quite well at 1845. =D>

Also 7 cranes north offshore at 1250 per Dean and Nicola Nicholson

2 Firecrests Beach Car Park

Cheers

Kev

The bird in the Russell's video looked a bit like i felt arriving early morning yesterday.

We had good views for an hour or so in company with Mr. GC. before the late comers arrived around midday-ish. Then we disappeared along with the 'Subalp' for a couple of hours, to enjoy a nice walk around Gib.

Unfortunately with only a couple of Lesser Whitethroat as reward for our efforts.
I do enjoy birding Gib though. :D

I was there at 06:00 yesterday spending an hour in a freezing cold hide looking to no avail. At 07:00 I noted Kev Wilson and a guy who had driven up from Stevenage after working a nightshift! They had found the bird in the roadside hedge opposite the beach car-park. About a hour later the bird disappeared into the sea-buckthorn and seemed to be heading for the Mere never to be seen again or so I thought. At this time there were very few people about. I then decided to go for a walk and was surprised to find the bird back by the hide when I went in about mid-day. 16 people were in there making it next to impossible to get a view initially but the bird did turn out to be obliging even if it did like to hide in the grass or behind twigs and branches

We arrived just after it disappeared into the buckthorn Chris and after a short search we returned to the empty hide, more in hope than expectation.
As reported the bird did eventually return to it's favoured area in front of the hide.
Where we were joined by Graham C. who spotted it lurking in the buckthorn.
Though often illusive, it did show well at times over the next hour or so.

Just viewed some nice shots on his blog thanks. Lovely bird :D

I'd love to see this bird, but I won't have transport for a while (Dad is a bit busy the latter half of this week).

Is anyone else going to see this bird who is passing through Boston en route, and can do pickup from Sleaford Road end? I am available Wednesday and Friday, but not Thursday.
