Popped up the reserve about 6pm hoping to pick up the Wood Sandpiper that was apparently showing well yesterday. Parked at the top car-park and had a quick scan of the scrapes from the access road and picked up a Black-winged Stilt instead! Had pretty good views for a couple of minutes before it flew to an island further back. We wandered around to the 360 Hide but the bird had moved off the scrapes by the time we had got there. We stayed until just after 8pm but didn't pick it up again. Spoke to Ian Ellis before I left and he had a brief view as it flew overhead from the bank towards the East Hide. |
