Taking a moments relief from crushing home renovation work I shared the garden with my friend. My Son wandered out to our sunshine haven wearing his magnificent Hull City apron and offered to cook pancakes for us to cheer us up. Dust fell from our faces as happy lines creased skin.

Golden syrup, golden sunlight and golden pancakes turned chores into pleasure and as we tossed our heads back in wonderful fortune, the blue sky gave us raptors. A male marsh harrier defined thermals and rose to the edge of our sight, it flew on elastic wings as it displayed to the world around. Below a sharper figure altogether chased in disapproval, a falcon, a peregrine.

A dinner break to remember.

Shame on you forcing the poor boy to wear a Hull City apron - and I thought you sounded like a caring father!
