An evening stroll yesterday evening in the Kirkstead abbey area: Grey partridge 1 heard Little Owl 1 heard and seen Cuckoo 1 heard (second for the area this year) Turtle dove 1 heard (first this year) In the morning I did my late BBS in Metheringham: exactly the same dates as last year for both visits, and 33 species this year compared to 38 last year - but it's been a late spring.
