Heard again from the same spot by me mal,and Simon,left Simon with it,we all heard the same 4 to 5 rising notes then nothing,a mystery will go there tommorrow and try and get on the bird if poss!! 1,If its a Nightingale,where's the full song? 2,Is it a Thrush imitating? 3,there aint no 3, Rog.ps.probably some rare asiatic bird ive never heard of! |

I remeber when I was listening to the nightingale in Chamber's Wood the other week that a song thrush singing close by had robbed a couple of phrases from the 'gale. I am not sure how common this is but what you said reminded me. |

the habitat just does not look right to me with a narrow open bank under the tall trees and not much ground cover; a Song Thrush is feeding young in the trees there but in 2 hours I heard nothing; it has also been listened for at night and nothing heard so the debate continues as it were until someone can get a recording of what is being heard |

Yep,I heard it today very briefly,i did the actual notes myself and it replied once then no more,i did the same yesterday and it replied,,,but the weather was bad,maybe someone playing a nightingale song might do it?my own opinion is that it is not a Nightingale and probably a thrush..doing some notes of a nightingale..famous last words!! Rog. |

In the space of 2 hours,i heard it 5 times once in the woody bit and also in bushes up the hill towards the road,still not seen it,i dont know what it is,it just gives these 4-5 notes,,, +up to 5 hobbies seen today at msq,and rumours JH had six! Rog. |
