Kirkby Lane is closed for approx. 4 weeks for widening and resurfacing. Access to reserve difficult from Woodhall so best to use Wellsyke Lane. Ostler's Plantation will also be inaccessible by car for some of the time. Yesterday the car park was empty when I passed (on foot). Some respite at least for the wildlife from all the dogs.

I recorded the following at Kirkby Moor between 10.50 and 12.45. Anyone bored by lists of common species can stop reading now!

Pheasant 1, Coot 3, Stock dove 2, Woodpigeon 30, Collared dove 1, Swift 3, Green woodpecker 3, Gt. spotted woodpecker 1, Sky lark 2, Swallow 6, Wren 5, Robin 9, Blackbird 6, Song thrush 3, Mistle thrush 3, Reed warbler 3, Blackcap 8, Garden warbler 2, Chiffchaff 7, Willow warbler 4, Long tailed tit 1, Blue tit 3, Great tit 7, Treecreeper 1, Magpie 1, Jackdaw 7, Carrion crow 19, Chaffinch 6, Reed bunting 1.

Thanks John.
Would you mind posting when the road reopens as it is my regular route to the moor and the pits?

Many thanks

Hugh
