Black-winged stilts at RSPB Frampton Marsh - 03/06/13

Neil Smith had a pair of black-winged stilts at Frampton on the wet grassland this morning at 06:40 but they flew off south-west ish.

They're back....showing very well on the Reedbed near visitor centre at 10am

and a pectoral sandpiper on middle scrape as well now.

Sat at work trying think of a cunning plan to escape. Don't think putting my underpants on my head, sticking two pencils up my nose and saying "wibble" will quite cut it!

Hi Colin,

Just back from the reserve now. Black-winged Stilt was still giving unbelievable good views in the corner of the reedbed near the mound when I left (1900), and the Pectoral Sandpiper was on the scrapes to the left of the 360 hide at 1830.

Ahh yes, the less said about that the better.

Stilts (two) and Pec still present until 8pm. The stilts flew to the pools on the grassland by the sea bank at the end of the road. Also two little gulls.

Also seen at Frampton Marsh this afternoon besides the Stilts and Pec. Sand. were 1 Marsh Harrier, a brood of 7 Shoveler, 1 or 2 LRP's and Ringed Plover, 5 Black-tailed Godwit, 1 Little Gull and 2 Yellow Wagtail.
Not as many waders as I was expecting but I still think Frampton Marsh is one of the best reserves in the country ( I hope RSPB Middleton Lakes becomes as good as this in the future.

But would they cut it like a viciously sharp slice of mango? :wink:

Any further sightings of these? I'm heading down to Lakenheath tomorrow, so it would be rude of me not to pop in on the way and see the leggy ones if they're still around....
