Late posting cos on the 6th I had an extremely early start for me, when normally I don't get up till midday and in the process completely knackered myself and have only just recovered! 05.06: Horkstow Bridge: 15.00 - 17.45 Whimbrel - 2 (going south) Whitethroat - c4 Reed Warbler - c6 Sedge Warbler - c4 Common Tern - 2 Kingfisher - 1 LBB Gull - 4 Chaffinch - 8 Blue Tit - 1pr Great Tit - 1 pr Swallow - c8 Swift - c12 House Martin - c6 Buzzard - 1 Jay - 1 Reed Bunting - 6 Chiffchaff - 3 Yellow Wag - 1 Common Gull - 34 Wood Pigeon - 15 Shoveler - 1 Mallard - 2 A very enjoyable afternoon for seeing the above We met Colin P and he helped find a few bits, ta muchly. Regards John... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- June 6th: Horkstow Bridge 04.50 - 06.20 Took tape recorder and left it running to record what was left of dawn chorus, interesting listen. Reed Warbler - 2 Sedge Warbler - 2 Common Tern - 2 ( one was given me what for for being in it's space on the bridge. BH Gull - 12 Whitethroat - 3 Barn Owl - 1 Grey Heron - 1 Blackie - 1 Chaffinch - 1 Y/hammer - 1 Oyk - 3 ( going towards Humber) Mallard - 1pr Common Gull - 6 Red-leg Partridge - 3 Bonby Carrs: 06.30 - 08.30 Swallow - 1 ( perched on post allowed me to get pics and vid ) Gulls - c400 (over and some landed) Yellowhammer - 4m 3f ( quite a bit of displaying) got some cracking pics Mallard - 20 RL Partridge - 2 Gadwall - 14 Little Egret - 1 ( pics) Nearly mentioned summat I shudnt Sedge Warbler - 1 ( thankfully it was close and almost top of tree so I got pics and Vid ) Reed Warbler -1 maybe 2 Jay - 1 Skylark - 1 Mute Swan - 2 Linnet - 6 Reed Bunting - 3m 1f Chaffinch - 2m Meadow Pipit - 2 Corvids Worlaby Carrs: 08.40 - 09.30 Goldfinch - 2 ( one with nesting material) Great Tit - 1 Whitethroat - 1 (singing merrily next to car) couldn't take any pictures battery dead Swallow - c6 House Martin - c6 Shelduck - 1 Mipit - 1 juv RL Partridge - 1 Sad to see no Tree Sparrows! Between Castlethorpe Corner and Horkstow village spotted c 15 male Blackbird on way there. Kind regards JTG |
