An hours walk in Horncastle this evening along the side of the old canal revealed:- Mistle Thrushes - pair in mature Lime trees along Coronation Walk calling alarm at Blackbird mobbing very young fledgling on ground. Mute Swans - pair with 2 signets seen climbing into folds of adult's wings. Mallard ducks - females, at least 15 with many ducklings of various ages. Barn Owl 1 - seen quartering and hunting low over meadow land west of the Millenium wood at 8.00pm Reed Bunting 1 - in old reeds on old River Bain section.
also seen Water Vole 1 - swimming across canal.
