Had a lovely hour at Callan's Lane Wood yesterday. Spent most of it watching a pair of Spotted Flycatchers taking advantage of the abundance of flies and midges. I soon realised that they were hunting on one side of the track before returning to a tree on the other side. A quick scan with the binoculars soon revealed why.. A healthy looking fledgling perched on a branch just below a little thicket of leaves. Totally made my day.
