Post subject:  Turtle Dove

At 0815 today a single adult Turtle dove at the farm.
This is my first sighting of the species for this year! Ironically it was feeding on a weedy margin as part of my agri-environment scheme.
I am more hopeful other farmland birds have had a more productive breeding season this year. Now that harvest is clearing some fields I am seeing coveys of Grey Partridge. To date the best I have seen is a pair with 7 young in one covey. The wildbird crop plots although late in sowing have established well and should provide much needed seed and cover into the early part of winter.
