High tide roost, just north of Mill Hill.... Sandwich Tern 1280 Common Tern 24 Arctic Tern 2 Kittiwake 8 Spoonbill 3 (1ad, 2j) south, close in Jackson's Marsh.... Spoonbill 1 adult Whimbrel 1 Greenshank 19 Green Sandpiper 7 Black-tailed Godwit 5 Snipe 3 Little-ringed Plover 2 Avocet 23 Tennyson Sands.... Black-tailed Godwit 92 Snipe 7 Dunlin 6 Mere.... Sea and shore 1840-2030 There were quite good numbers of willow warblers (16) around Mill Hill this evening - hawking insects off the Hawthorns. It would hae been good to check out more of the dunes but there was too much activity on and over the beach to ignore. Gulls and terns were flying into roost. Herring Gull c 2500 GBB Gull c750 LBB Gull 76 Common Gull c500 Med Gull 9 adults ( a Gib record count) Sandwich tern 2,500 Common Tern 92 Arctic skua 31 mostly south Also a garganey new in on the Mere.
