Tore the wet grassland up, looked under every blade of grass in the reserve and even in the visitor centre loos but to no avail. Bird not seen now for a few hours. Compensated by a GORGEOUS, STUNNING Barn Owl (YAAAAY! First for 2 years!) hunting over the grassland and scrapes though, which made up for the Dotterel disappointment! WHOOPEE! Loads of Little Stint & Curlew Sandpiper present, also Snipe, Black-tailed Godwit, Lapwing, Redshank, Ringed Plover, 2 Curlew, lots of Ruff, growing numbers of incoming Wigeon, male Mallards regaining smart plumage, circa 5 Little Grebe and usual Gulls, Swans, Coots, Moorhens etc... |
