A mixture of summer and winter birds today at Gibraltar Point Waxwing 1 just three hundred yards south of the north car-park near a metal cattle grid Whooper Swan a flock of 41. Settled on the sea for a while before carrying on to Norfolk. Other skeins were seen by Kev Wilson Pink-footed goose 26 and an estimated 80 Redwing 25+ Water Rail 1 Spotted Redshank 2 Little Stint 1 Siskin 5 - how many others would I have got if I had the hearing and vision of Kev Goldcrest 4 probably many more Blackbird 37+ Goldfinch 62 Red-throated Diver 1 Little Egret 8 Marsh Harrier 2 Merlin 1 Sparrowhawk 3 with two in the air together Buzzard 1 Kestrel 1 Golden Plover c500 Grey Plover 16 Curlew Redshank Knot 300 Turnstone 12 Sanderling 4 Oystercatcher 55 Shelduck 122 Bar-tailed Godwit 2 Black-tailed Godwit 54 Wigeon 10 Teal c80 Mallard 10 Moorhen 6 Brent Goose c400 Magpie 28 Cormorant 27 Reed Bunting 14 Skylark 6 Meadow Pipit c20 Stock Dove 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker 1 |

Mill Hill from 0730 to 1015 with KMW and RKW. Best day for Vismig at Gib this autumn I think! Visible Migration from the West Dunes 07:15 - 09:30 (Additional to Mill Hill counts). It always amazes me how different the counts can be just from being at different ends of the reserve (East Dunes and West Dunes).
