The first-winter Glaucous Gull flew over our heads! We were looking at it on the top of a corrugated building overlooking Millennium Pit, before it came down onto Millennium Pit. Then, after about 10 minutes, Dad (Rob Carr) lost it from view and then he said "Hey, it's almost over our heads!!!!!!" And yes, it did a) look like a Glaucous Gull of first-winter, with the end of the bill being black and the base of the bill being a whitey-cream colour. I've never seen a Gull up close so well. Beats the Audouin's Gull, by far! |
