Hi,

Toby found another White-rumped Sandpiper at Frampton today. This one was an adult. The previous bird (seen on 1st and 4th Nov) was a juvenile. According to Toby he thinks the juv was the same bird as at Gib and Blacktoft in Oct/Nov.

Cheers,

John

The adult White-rumped Sandpiper was still showing quite well at times from the 360 degree hide this afternoon and occasionally with a Dunlin for comparison. 16 Snow Bunting were also around.

Aha, that suggests the sparrowhawk was successful, there were 17 snow buntings!

Hi,

the white-rumped sandpiper has been showing on and off all weekend. The snow bunting count got up to 24 yesterday, with 22 this morning.

Cheers,

Simon.

WRS still present at sunset this afternoon, visible but mid-distant from the 360 Hide.

No luck with Snow Buntings. :(

Just to add to Simon and Katharine's posts, there was a disinctly "winter is a-coming" feel on the reserve today.

Both a Greater Scaup and a Goldeneye were amongst the swathes of Teal and Wigeon on the scrapes, a couple of sorties of Whooper Swans (9 + 4) flew over the reserve during the afternoon and Golden Plover numbers seemed to swelling with each passing hour.

A Peregrine terrorised the scrapes a couple of times as well.

Still here today. Also Whimbrel (Eurasian!), 18 Snow Bunts and a heck of a lot of wigeon.
