A common sand is a good find for Swanholme Aidan. Whereabouts did you see it? |

Especially in November. Check for Spotted Sand? |

I spotted it from the "hide", flying across the larger of the internal pits - those to the South of the main lake - it was a surprise to me, although I have heard wader like calls previously. It was quite a clear view as it flew away from me across the pit. At first I thought it was a Snipe but after checking the markings in my guidebook, I came to the conclusion it was a Common Sandpiper. According to my guidebook they are frequently seen as passage migrants in the Autumn, on Inland Reservoirs and Sewerage farms. |
