Some migration in evidence at the south end after a couple of quiet days. 420 Blackbirds seen during the morning, either coming in low from the sea or descending vertically into the dunes, made only short stays as most had departed to the west or SW by midday. Accompanying them were occasional small parties of Starlings, 18 Fieldfares, 20 Redwings, 11 Chaffinches and 2 Common Snipe. Three flocks of Lapwings totalling 107 birds headed NW and a party of 4 Goosanders came in and continued SW inland. Whooper Swans were down to 6, along with 6 Mute Swans, 65 Canada Geese, 2 Greylags, 460 Brent Geese and 6 pale-bellied Brent Geese. A male Hen Harrier, 30 Twite and a Lapland Bunting on the marshes and 3 Eiders south at sea.

Nothing of note at Pyes Hall at noon but when I returned to Saltfleet there was a notable influx of Blackbirds with around 40 feeding on worms in a small area by our caravan, so probably a few hundred on the site.
