Started off looking good but persistent rain from 1100 meant I saw sense at 1400! Day total of 57 sp. Didn’t get chance to check the sea or any waders due to driving, horizontal rain and sand blasting. Birds of note were: Whooper Swan 52 went south at 0740. Another 4 went south later and there were flocks of 10 and 16 in fields across CM. Total of 82 birds Bewick’s Swan. 1 in field across CM with the 10 Whoopers. Mute Swan 8 in fields across CM Barn Owl 1 Snow Bunt 1 over WVP Fieldfare 2 in Plantation and 10 in WD Little Grebe 1 on Mere and 1 on TS Wigeon 20 on TS Teal 120 on TS Mallard 50 on TS Shoveler 24 on TS and 20 on pool near Tern Hut Pochard 3 (2M and 1F) on TS Water Rail 2 on TS Golden Plover 2200 Lapwing (300) Dunlin 1 on TS Snipe 1 on TS Chiffchaff 1 in Plantation Cheers Nige |

Sea Watching highlights: Little Gull 1ad north Kittiwake 1ad south Slavonian Grebe 1 south, then landed on the sea Gannet 1 south Guillemot 5 south Razorbill 2 south Auk Sp 10 south Scaup 2 south (adult pair) Goldeneye 1 south (drake) Red-throated Diver 20 Great Crested Grebe 2 Eider 4 drakes 3 Bewick's Swan present this evening in fields west of Croft Marsh Cheers, Richard |
