Mixed flock of Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Lesser Redpoll and Reed Bunting in hedge up to the bird hide area.

Not many ducks on the water, several Mallard a pair of Garganey, a few Widgeon and a pair of Little Grebe.

Blue tits, Great Tits, Dunnock, Chaffinch and Robin round the feeders joined periodically by a beautifully marked Greater Spotted Woodpecker.

A flock of 20 to 25 Lesser Redpolls came and fed on seed heads near the pond.

When the rain did abate, albeit for half an hour, a walk up the reedbeds produced a sighting of two Water Rail.

A very wet and gloomy afternoon with appalling light for photos.

Cheers,

Oliver.
