Hi,

Lots of birds at Frampton currently despite our attempts to scare them off by draining two of the scapes and driving around them with an excavator!

Bewick's swan - 2
Whooper swan - 34
The swans are roosting on the reserve each night and feeding on the winter wheat to the south of the reserve (what's wrong with our grass eh chaps!). You can see them during the day from the wetland trail.
Jack snipe - 1
Wigeon - at least 2600. Quite a spectacle close to the road near the sea bank
Pintail - 40
Peregrine - 1
Merlin - 1
Ruff - 8
Little owl - 2
I presume the 7 snow buntings and 2 scaup that have been here since before Christmas are still present on the reedbed, but I didn't look for them this morning.

Cheers,

John

Ps. the engineering works will be continuing until the end of January at least. There will be some disruption, but you wait and see the results in a few months!
