Bittern seen this afternoon sat in reeds preening for about 20 minutes. From the hide the bird was in the reeds about a field of view to the right of the brick tower.
This is my first sighting of Bittern at the mere since 11/10/13. If the bird has been at the mere all the time since then it is obviously not flying from reedbed to reedbed as Bitterns at the mere usually do.
