Can we update location. Googled anthony bank and there's two one at humberstone and one towards great coats but that seems to be used for completely different birding activities. :x

When this report appeared online late yesterday, the local (Grimsby area) LBC lads were gathered in the pub, as usual on Wednesday evening. There was general agreement that "Anderson's Bank" was a wrong name, unknown to locals, and that the likely real location was Anthony's Bank at the Cleethorpes/Humberston boundary - around Buck Beck outfall, where there is a horse pasture to landward and saltmarsh on the shore (TA328065). Tony Housman and I had a look from dawn. Just 3 little egrets and a few feeding curlew in the horse pasture this morning, and no sign of ibis - either there or on nearby fields etc. No idea who reported the bird yesterday, or what time of day the sighting was made.

Other birding activity James! Shock Horror!

I've been holidaying within yards of the area/road signed 'Anthony's Bank' and walking along it daily for past 15 years but have never seen any birding activities, conventional or otherwise taking place here.

Hi Ian.
just wondered if Anthony's Bank extend south along onto Fitties.
As I recall seeing a conservation area map of local area with Anthony's Bank & associated drain on it. Coincidentally the adjacent road here is also signed 'Anthony's Bank'.
Any thoughts?'

Once again this flags up the need for a sites map. There are so many places that are not commonly known, not officially named on any map or have been named specifically by birders only.
Churchill, somewhere at Saltfleet, I still haven't run that one down, we haven't named the new Donna Nook flood relief area yet although we have had a comical kickabout with names for it on our web site.

Why not pool our knowledge and create a decent online map for locals and visiting birders and make an effort to complete it by the end of this year?

Del,
the bank along the seaward edge of the fitties is Anthony's Bank, but I'm not aware of any significant drains by/off that section?

The deep newly cleared drain runs through centre if Fitties just east of the road signed as 'Anthony's Bank'.
Just thought it possiblethat the finder? was not local & read the the sign prior to reporting the location of the Ibis.
