Dean Nicholson has just flushed the Glossy Ibis from the north west corner of Apex Pit (North Hykeham Pits). It flew high south south west over the houses, but is evidently still in the area. Checking flooded fields around the Thorpe-on-the-Hill roundabout might be productive. Also reported from Whisby Garden Center sometime last week (seen from the A46 apparently). Cheers Grahame |

a rather indelicate description Grahame! sure Dean will appreciate it -- Just how many are lurking in flooded wet fields in Lincs at the moment I wonder? |

No he is not a photographer, he came round a corner, head down in a gale, and it got up from in front of him before he saw it on the deck. |

Sorry! Heard/seen the name but don't know him Andy. It just seems that every bird you go for nowadays gets flushed by someone with a lens. The feeders in this picture are just 6 feet from his lens. http://t.co/Jg0QspD7XQ |

Actually the photographers are on the left side of the road, the guy near the feeders has a scope, a compact camera and is a well known twitcher. |

Quote: a rather indelicate description Grahame! sure Dean will appreciate it - I was in a bit of a rush when I wrote this to get the news out. Thankfully Andy Sims has put me right but for the record the bird was unintentionally flushed. Anyway what I'm sure was this bird flew high over the A46 just after 5.00pm, trouble is I was driving at the time and the traffic was heavy. The bird came from the direction of Whisby Garden Center and appeared to be dropping towards Apex Pit, but a quick search before the light went revealed nothing. Will be looked for again tomorrow if it hasn't been blown away! Grahame |

Could this be on the way back to the Whisby area. One reported today at Collingham and the long stayer at Lowdham not reported. Perhaps the same bird - just a thought |
