An adult Whooper was in the R Trent between Garthorpe & Alkborough on 15th April, standing on a sand bank (in Lincolnshire) before swirling about as the tide came in. Getting a bit late for the species, but I think I heard about another a few days back.

it is still at Alkborough Andrew; presumably an injured first-summer but with no prospect of breeding it maybe just does not feel like going back north!
Black-tailed Godwits building now with 192 islandica present this morning some in superb summer plumage, so it may hitch a lift with them --
