Fairly brief visit this morning in the pouring rain with the following of note:

Swift - 1 (my personal first of the year)
House Martin - 20
Sand Martin - 45
Swallow - 65

Nightingale - now 2 in a relatively small area

Goldeneye - 2f still present

All the usual warblers and birds on the pits as noted the last few days but no counts made.

Hi Matthew

For interest the two Nightingales you mention (god forbid if I ever call them Luscinia again!) are in the same territories as last year. The 'western' bird is actually within Whisby NR when singing on the south side of Teal Lake, although if it crosses the Pike Drain to sing on the north side of Apex Pit then it technically it's in North Hykeham Pits!

Also two Garden Warbler tonight (seen and heard), one on the south side of Teal Lake and another on the north side of Millennium Green, and a Common Sandpiper on Butterley's Pit. Dean N had two Dunlin earlier on the 'new workings' on Teal Lake.

Cheers

Grahame
