Following a largely uneventful start to the month, it was good to see an increase in migrants. Moving north during the morning were at least 300 Swallows, 80 House Martins, 4 Sand Martins, 120 Swifts and a Hobby. There were more warblers around, most notable of which were 2 Garden Warblers. Other migrants included 3 Yellow Wagtails, 4 Wheatears, 4 Cuckoos, 2 Common Sandpipers and 3 Whimbrels. Up at Stonebridge, John Walker reported 2 Avocets and a pair of Garganey, and these were still present for Mark Johnson in the evening.
