25.6.14: Possible Woodlark (noticeable crest, and plumage, stocky build right - seen in bush, NW Quarry. Rather suspect it is on passage, like the Tree Pipit I saw 2 years ago. Without a mate it will move on, either south to Kirkby Moor or north to Scotton Common/Laughton Forest/Crowle Moor. That's my theory anyway.), Lesser Whitethroat(2), Willow Warbler, Goldfinch, Greenfinch(2),Long tailed Tit, Reed Bunting(3), House Martin(2), Swallow, Magpie(3), Wood Pigeon, Jackdaw(30+), Kestrel.

Audible only: Willow Warbler(2 or 3), Chifchaff, Blackcap, Mistle Thrush, Blackbird, Wren, Meadow Pipit.

Also: Butterflies - Ringlet(50+), Meadow Brown(30+), Large Skipper(3), Small Skipper(2), Small Heath(6), Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell(3).

Visited Greetwell Hollow for the first time this morning while my car was being serviced nearby. Very pleasant in the sun and lots to see. I saw much of what Aidan has listed but unfortunately missed the Wood Lark and the Lesser Whitethroat. Did see 6 Magpie, 2 Yellowhammer and a Green Woodpecker. About 15 Sand Martins were visiting holes in the NE quarry wall.
There were lots of Ringlet and "Brown" butterflies plus 3 Common Blues. Plenty of Birds Foot Trefoil about for the Blues. Also saw 6 Bee Orchids though they were past their best

Cheers Colin
