My search for the Baumber Turtle Doves came to a happy conclusion today when I heard one purring from my own garden at 7.30 this morning! ( again at 6.15pm ). After a bit of watching and waiting a pair flew out of the garden and headed for the village.

Meanwhile Shearmans Wath at 10am:-

Mallard x2 broods (1 newly hatched)
Teal
Grey Heron
Oystercatcher x2
Snipe
Lapwing x25
Greensandpiper x4

Monday 18th August 0945hrs

The sighting I have been hoping for now since the first sighting of Turtle Dove in Baumber on 25th May.

This morning a very newly fledged juvenile was on the verge of the drive to the farm attended by one of the adults. The youngster flew over into the grass field adjacent to the garden where I suspect the net is. Lets hope a second chick fledges successfully and I get a 'Pigeon pair'. The adults have been remarkably elusive all these weeks so hopefully there are a few more breeding out there in rural Lincs that go undetected.
