RSPB Frampton looking really good at the moment, with lots of mud and loads of waders, including;

Lesser Yellowlegs (on pools from sea bank - great find Toby!)
Glossy Ibis (from road)
Garganey (just along from LYL's)
Also, lapwing, LRP, redshank, greenshank, ruff, snipe, BTGodwit, avocet, dunlin, oystercatcher, little egret etc...

And.... this is really poor footage of the Lesser Yellowlegs, redshank and Greenshank (you have been warned, it's very poor! Note the yellowlegs in flight chasing a redshank, then the greenshank and finally the yellowlegs....)

Is this not an eclipse drake Garganey?

Graham,

I made my original id on the colour of the speculum. However, I now agree that this is a eclipsed drake garganey (based on the fact that the bird has both a broad white edge of the secondaries and a broad white edge along the greater coverts - if this was a female, then the white edge of the greater coverts would be much thinner)...

Thanks for the comments, it's always good to learn new things, (my excuse is that I don't see too many garganey...)

Thanks

Andrew

Lesser Yellowlegs reportedly flown after being disturbed by a Barn Owl this lunchtime.
