A Nuthatch on Market Rasen Golf Course yesterday afternoon was a first for me at that location. 2 adult and 2 juvenile Oystercatchers on the adjacent Racecourse. A Quail was calling in a barley field about 200 yards south of Stenigot mast this morning.

I posted the Quail details at 1115 and I was told that within 15 minutes it was on Birdguides (to which I don't subscribe) although there were no other birders about! I can only assume a third party is forwarding other people's observations - is this good practice?

Hi Stuart,

Birdguides trawl the LBC website, and others, for information.

Stuart,

I think you'll find that the guy operating the BirdGuides desk on any given day, occasionally/regularly logs onto County websites for extra info and copies it across. Not a bad system really for birders who trawl BirdGuides regularly throughout the day. BirdGuides also often promptly include received info re rare birds in Lincs which sometimes doesn't appear on the LBC website until late in the evening or even the next day.......by which time 'the bird may have flown.'

Freddy

PS. I see Andy has just beaten me to it with similar comment.
