At the south end, 34 Yellow Wagtails represented a good count, although up to 24 have been present for the past ten days or so. The best birds on the landward side were 15 Little Egrets, 120 Golden Plovers, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, adult Mediterranean Gull, 2 Corn Buntings and 8 Sand Martins. At sea and onshore were 29 Sandwich Terns, 4 Common Terns, 2 Little Terns, 50 Common Scoters, 3 Eiders, Gannet, 4 Cormorants, 16 Dunlin and 79 Sanderlings.

Around the realignment scheme were 24 little egret,100 swallows, c50 avocet, c 20 oystercatchers, 6 green sandpipers, 6 common sandpipers, c1000 starling, 2 buzzard, 2 yellow wagtail, c 20 pied wagtail and what seemed like every fly in Christendom

Highlights from a walk around the realignment this evening produced:

1 Wood Sandpiper
4 Green Sandpiper
6 Common Sandpiper
5 Greenshank
25 Lapwing
2 Little Ringed Plover
1 Ringed Plover
21 Whimbrel through (inc flock of 15)
5 Turnstone
300+ Dunlin
1 Marsh Harrier
1 Peregrine
40 Sand Martin south
1 Cuckoo
15+ Yellow Wagtail

There were mozzies throughout which I must admit became more irritating as time progressed. I certainly left with less blood than I started with!

Re the Mozzies,
I had sprayed Jungle Formula on as I left Lincoln with Chris Grimshaw, but my back is looking like a toad!

We also had about 4 Greenshank, during the late morning afternoon.
