On the realignment area this morning were- 98 dunlin, 1 curlew sand(ad), 11 ringed plover, 111 redshank, 8 ruff, 5 snipe, 2 common sand, 24 shelduck, 6 cormorant, 12 little egret and 1 marsh harrier.One redshank with a long red ring on left, yellow flag with black code on right - never came close enough to allow us to read the flag code. regards, Ian Shepherd, joined for part of the morning by Tony and Sheila Housman |

An evening circuit of the realignment area produced a few changes. Waders were ca.100 Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plovers, !00 Redshanks, Spotted Redshank, 5 Greenshanks, 10 Ruffs, 9 Snipe, 11 Avocets, Black-tailed Godwit, Wood Sandpiper and 45 Golden Plovers. Also of note were 210 Teal, 47 Shelducks, 24 Cormorants, 26 Little Egrets, 3 Mediterranean Gulls and a Tawny Owl. 3,800 Common Terns flew along the tide-line to the roost off Horseshoe Point. 620 Oystercatchers were on the shore. |
