2nd September

Flushed 3 juvenile partridge type birds this afternoon from a large wildflower plot at Riseholme. They flushed from about 6-8ft from me and dropped into overgrown vegetation about 10 ft away. They were clearly juvenile type gamebirds but I'm wondering just what they could be at this time of year. Do Grey Partridge breed as late as this or could they even have been Quail.
Any thoughts on whether partridge breed this late? I know Quail do.

Ian, Regarding Grey Partridge BWP states repeat layings prolong season into August, even September in most areas.

Great thanks for the info - nice to see these wild plots at Riseholme are being used.
