There were certainly plenty of Whinchats about today. With observational contributions from GPC and also Barry Clarkson, we achieved a total of 60 for the area, made up by 31 on a circuit of the realignment area, 13 between Stonebridge and the Ponderosa and 16 at the south end between the coastguard cottages to just beyond the Quad 3 building. Additional birds to Mark's counts at the north end were 2 Tree Pipits, 2 Willow Warblers, Reed Warbler, 10 Whitethroats, 3 Lesser Whitethroats and a Wheatear. Other migrants at the south end were 10 Whitethroats, 4 Willow Warblers, 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 3 Pied Flycatchers, 2 Redstarts, 3 Yellow Wagtails and 15 Robins. Other highlights were 7 Ruffs, Curlew Sandpiper, 10 Greenshanks, 3 Green Sandpipers, 3 Common Sandpipers and a Marsh Harrier.
