Tuesday 9th evening.
Winchat was flushed from a 'Dry ditch' with rough grass and then provided good views perched on top of a nearby hedge.
In the post harvest period I get access to stubbles for a couple of weeks until autumn cultivations gather pace. It is a good time of year to survey the coveys of Grey Partridge to assess their breeding season. Following the disastrous breeding of 2012 numbers are beginning to rebuild. I was concerned that the wet weather in late May have interrupted egg laying but I have found 4 or 5 coveys with around 7 juveniles.
Also noted is that there has been a very noticeable passage of Meadow Pipits through the farm in the past cole of days.
