Hi

An OBP was glimpsed in the West Dune Sycamore Plot yesterday, but when other birders were called to help relocate it, a tree pipit was found nearby so the earlier claim was dismissed. However, fortunately, the OBP was confirmed with the tree pipit late morning today.

The OBP clearly favours feeding in rank vegetation underneath the sycamores and frequently flies into the low canopy where views can be obtained with patience.

Best to wait and watch from the gate that separates the two grazing enclosures. The bird has come out on the path looking north from this gate.

Hi

Yes, a few bramblings, siskins, one or two redpoll sp and a fieldfare but I don't think any redwing reports just yet.

OBP still present

I was lucky enough to catch up with OBP at approx 1030, not sure it has been seen since....

Others birds included

Lesser Whitethroat (very smart bird behind sailing club)
Tree pipit 4
Chiffs, goldcrest, blackcap, siskins, song thrushes etc...

Edit: forgot to mention, if you are thinking about going to see this bird, don't wear shorts and take some insect repellant, there are Mosquitos everywhere!

After a long wait the Olive-backed Pipit finally showed for a few pics late Saturday morning.

Thanks again for yesterdays OBP update Gary.
It was very nice to meet you and put a face to a name on the forum but I must apologize for not giving you my name. Sorry!

Really enjoyed the day out at Gib. and views of many species including those very different looking Tree Pipits we watched together.
Also today Gannet, c250 Blkwits, Dunlin, Ruff, Avocet, Greenshank, Common Sand., Redshank, Pinfooted Geese + 200+ over during day, Little Egret, Whitethroat, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Goldcrest, Willow warblers (lots), Redstart, Yellow-browed.
Didnt go for it but OBP would have been a bonus.

Del......
