As we drove along the A52 near Friskney early afternoon, mid way between dipping out on the Rose Coloured Starling and also the Grey Phalarope, a small group of parakeets flew across and then down the road, stopping in a roadside tree. We stopped to confirm 4 RNP (or Rose Ringed Parakeets as Collins now calls them ). One or two I would dismiss as simple escapes, not least as the "Parrot Zoo" is signposted as being 4 miles away, but a flock of 4 seems unusual. I am aware that historically they are introduced, although some areas have their own population now. Is Friskney such an area? I have had them at Gib in the distant past. A consolation on a day that began so well with the Arctic Warbler at Donna Nook!
