I've just had a call from John Watt, doing his WeBS count on Nocton Fen: he has seen a Great Grey Shrike. It was on the Wasp's Nest to Bardney road, at the Bardney end. Seen three times and last seen flying towards the settling ponds.

Just to elaborate a little: The shrike flew ahead of me three times as I drove down the Wasps Nest - Bardney road but I could not obtain a clear view when it landed. About 40 minutes later, approx. 09.15, I found it on the Witham Bank, sitting up on a dead elder branch. It then flew back towards the road and veered off in the direction of the Bardney settling pits. I was short of time but made a quick, though unsuccessful, search.
