Tom - 3000 knot at Reads Island is a very interesting record as there are usually only odd birds in this part of the estuary although there have been historic records of large numbers on the very odd occasion. Hopefully not casting any aspirations on the record (and my apologies in advance) but can you confirm you are 100% happy that they were knot? It would be great if they were and if you could confirm as it would add to the already record figures of over 50,000 wetland birds using the island this year including 26,000 golden plover and 13,000 pinkfeet. Hi I'm regards to both questions I'm sure they were knot, had my scope and were not that far out so yes, I am positive. The nuthatches were feeding in the trees by Julian's bower. Regards Tom |
